Last Night's Dreams
A Halloween event, sensation
Families gathering in celebration
In a gymnasium, all contained.
Gunman loose,
Mind Deranged.
Falling from a high up place
No escape, nowhere safe,
Nowhere else, could they go.
Bones smashing against the floor.
Dreaming, inside a dream,
Explaining to Joe, what I’d seen.
All of it still there, just as before
I wake from a dream of a dream.
Elder abuse! Horrible, deplorable!
Daughter-in-law, so unkind.
I want to pummel and punch her,
As I can do nothing but watch,
Her dehumanizing interactions.
Her hateful, hidden, infractions!
*Hmmmm, how do I know that I’m not dreaming right now? That I am not having a dream within a dream, within a dream?
What a wild night of dreaming. I did a lot of swinging from the ceiling too. We were inside the gym and the best place to hide from the gunman was from a high up perch. Incidentally, the same place my friend had fallen from. We could never swing to the exact right place. Don’t ask me why we didn’t just walk out of the building and leave. I mean, we weren’t even locked in. We were only told a gunman was coming. Yet we just stay and try to hide. Idiots!
Elders are so vulnerable, are they not? It’s heartbreaking to think about the ways our most vulnerable citizens are victimized behind closed doors. How stripped from all power, they must feel. The only thing different than child abuse, is that sometimes the elderly person has the capacity to reach out for help. Sadly, not always, but at least some of the time.
And I’m not victim blaming, but in a way, I guess I am, I digress. Fuk. These disgusting elder abusers are often the adult children of the elderly victim, aren’t they???? Isn’t it obvious? In at least a portion of these situations, these victimizers were victims themselves, at the hands of the parent they now have total control over.
As a child, I saw an elder get punched in the face for not handing over their pension.
Maybe don’t victimize little kids or the elderly, okay? 🛑
*When I say “you” throughout my writing, I am not directly speaking to whoever is reading this, so please don’t feel like I’m directing my outrage to you personally.
My point is to emphasize the viciousness of intergenerational trauma. When we see elder abuse, we are often seeing those affects in action.
It’s so sneaky how victimizers do this all in secret. You rarely see a vulnerable person abused in public. This indicates very clearly that they know for a fact what they are doing is wrong! Otherwise, children and elders would be punched and abused in public. We’d see it every day. They know.
Cameras For Accountability
We need to be doing a much, much, better job at protecting societies most vulnerable. All children, elderly, and the disabled need to be monitored. And once a problem is flagged, if the vulnerable person is not removed, that family is watched regularly in addition the parents must retake my seven-step parenting class. I think every home should be equipped with cameras. Nobody watches unless an issue arises. Certain at-risk families are randomly checked on.
Don’t come at me. It is needed. Vulnerable humans need to be protected. Yes, there is a chance that this access could be misused by the government. But, in my perfect utopian world, there would be an independent watchdog, making sure that people’s right to privacy was not being abused.
People would get used to having cameras. It would not be as if they were always being watched. Imagine how much safer women and children would be???
Institutions need the same oversight. Especially daycares and schools. I don’t see any problem with it. It is different from fascism. The government wouldn’t be able to misuse their power. In fact, the government wouldn’t really be involved. “The Vulnerable Persons Protection Society,” a society I created, would be the only ones with access. And there would be strict protocols in place to prevent human rights violations. There is also a board of directors made up of community members who represent various vulnerable segments of society. So yeah. I have it all figured out, no worries.
BTW, how is this font? Is it accessible to old blind people? I at minimum need to increase the font size if other people are going to read this.
Why would anyone even want to read my ramblings and simplistic poetry anyway? I do wish though, do I not? It feels very lonely to write these words only for myself. We need to be seen and recognized. What is us, our ethos, our essence, needs to be shared. We need to see each other through our art. Through our creations. Never cast aside someone’s genuine attempts to show themselves to you. Acknowledge that vulnerability goddammit! *I am not speaking to the person who may be reading this. It is simply a general statement to always acknowledge the creative work that is shown to you. It is not enough to take a glance and then cast their soul-work aside. It is soul-crushing to share something important to you, that you feel proud of, and then not have that vulnerability acknowledged in some way or another.
*Should we not be legalizing recreational drug use? 💊👍
Imagine the tax revenue that could be put into social programs for children? This prevents further generations from falling into addiction due to untreated childhood trauma. It makes sense. In addition, all the lives that could be saved due to tainted impure street drugs. Imagine the crime reduction. Hard core addicts would no longer need to fund their habit through crime.
Of course, this also needs be regulated. For instance, the most ill (addicted) will need their medicine to be free. And it is medicine when it comes to chronic abusers. And institutions for the most ill (addicted) need to be available. Of course, these institutions are humane environments. It takes the chronic users off the streets. They need to be taken care of as if they have a debilitating illness, which they do have. And they don’t always know what is best for themselves, so they do need intervention. It should not be a choice, in other words. But they can be released when their addiction is treated to a point where they can function in society again.
Of course, these institutions are not anything like what we normally see presently. Naturally, there would be therapy, entertainments, animals, a nice outdoor environment. The disenfranchised people of society need to be reintegrated. Their pride needs to be rebuilt. They need to know they are valued as members of society, even with their limitations. Presently, they feel hated by society, so naturally they are not going to give much thought to how their actions impact others. And addiction does make people selfish. It’s because they care more about acquiring the drug than all else.
Take away that stress for them. They can relax a little, knowing their medicine (drug) is provided for them. 🙂
I have created a peaceful society, with fairness. Where people can be less angry at each other. Less hate. Less stress.
Also, in this society everyone can own their own home if they want. And nobody is allowed to own more than one home. The government would own rental habitations. Rental costs would be based on a sliding scale that is dependent on the household income. Pets are permitted, on the condition they are properly cared for and trained. This would be monitored periodically.
Food Insecurity
To start with healthy meals would be provided at school and daycare. This includes breakfast, lunch, and snacks. At a minimum families living below the poverty line would be given grocery store gift cards to assist in their budgets. There of course, would also be outside agencies assisting as well. At the very least, neglected or hungry children would be fed during the day. I’d also propose an early dinner be provided in daycare and after school programs. That of course would be optional, since many families have dinner together. This is meant for the children returning to homes sparse of food.
Childcare
Obviously in my utopian society, childcare would be free. Even for caregivers who are not employed. In fact, childcare is mandatory after age three and for at risk children, even earlier. Keep in mind, it is the absolute best in care that the child will be receiving. I’m making it this way, because too many children are isolated living in terrible living conditions, often abused or religiously indoctrinated. Children need a well-rounded learning environment. Additionally, they need to be safe.
To have childcare programs mandatory, the at-risk kids will have enriching experiences, they would not otherwise have access to. In addition, some extra eyes will be keeping an eye on them, ensuring they are okay, watching for signs of abuse and neglect.
This system is for the protection of vulnerable children, not to oppress.
These policies and programs, along with the infertility vaccine and my seven-step parenting class, will create a society that protects the most vulnerable. It makes it, so that no matter what your income is, you will be able to live a stress-free comfortable life. If parents are less stressed or angry, children are much safer.
*Obviously, I’m being slightly facetious in some parts, ie Infertility vaccine. I still believe it should be given to people. But alas, I am not running the world.
I failed to mention, that obviously access to healthcare and medications are provided. The rich must pay more taxes to make this possible. Too bad richies!😂 Of course I am referring to the ultra wealthy, especially the top 1% . It’s troubling to me that the wealthiest people also pay the least taxes. That is a travesty in justice, imo.
At home help is also given. Especially for new parents. Someone to assist with household duties. People live stressful lives, do they not? This is done in Sweden. They value children and families a lot more than we do.
Obviously, there is universal access to post-secondary education. It seems abominably unjust that only well-off people can access post-secondary education, especially without accumulating a massive dept. Let’s not even touch on the fact that we are abysmally failing at providing young people with a comprehensive education that will prepare them for life as an adult. Aaaaaaaand, lets also not touch on the fact that the most vulnerable children in society, receive the worst quality of education. That where they live, condemns them to a poor education. How is that fair?
These kids are already so vulnerable, and the solution is to also send them to shitty schools? If anything, the children who are most vulnerable should have the best schools. A place they can exist during the day free of the challenges they may be facing at home. A place where help is available for them such as Counselling. Free lunches and snacks, obviously. How about ALL CHILDREN receive the best possible education? How about that?
Fuk capitalism all to hell! 🤬
Now mind you, communism, how Marx intended it to be has been bastardized. And possibly, a little bit of capitalism is okay. It’ just that every altruistic political innovation always seems to end up corrupted. It’s almost as if the ones with power, running things are corrupt. 🤪
Maybe the government should be run by the people. Yeah, democracy doesn’t always work too well, does it? It’s because people are only looking out for THEIR own interests when they vote. And then there are those who vote against what is in their best interest. This is why we need to be doing a much better job in educating our young people.
It's not good though, is it, to have an educated society where the poor are well aware of the ways in which they are shafted? Angry voters blaming other marginalized folks is better for politics, is it not?
It shouldn’t require being wealthy and economically connected to be able to run in elections either. This is not a person that represents society or the underdog, they are representing themselves and the people THEY associate with.
In conclusion, if everyone in society was at minimum comfortable in their lives, there would be so many fewer social problems. Excess is not necessary to live a happy life. That is simply our greed, always wanting more. It’s an addiction. And why do the most wealthy hate taxes so much? Why are they against sharing? For that matter, even the people taxed the least, are against taxes. Even though, if we required the wealthy to contribute more, it would ultimately make the middle class and the impoverished people’s lives much better. This is how education fails people, once again.
The government is often seen as evil entity who want to take your money for their own gain. And I mean, that’s also a fair assumption to make. That’s why we need impartial government bodies, not made up of only the most privileged in society.
And though, here in Canada, we have plenty of issues, things are far worse in other places. The US for example. I don’t understand the ridiculous patriotism there. In that country? Seriously? What is there to be patriotic about there? How free actually are they when people die every day from untreated medical conditions? Where for-profit prisons incarcerate vulnerable and oppressed segments of society for the smallest infractions? Prison should be reserved for violent criminals. For people who prey on vulnerable people. For pedophiles. (There are other ways to hold people accountable for their actions. Most people in prison, do not need to be there.) Yes, they are free to pack around their precious guns, at the detriment of all the lives lost as a result. ‘Freedom to,’ is different than ‘freedom from,’ is it not? I would rather be free from the threat of having so many unhinged people armed than be free to own a damn gun.
Their so-called freedom is an illusion. It’s not even an illusion though, is it? It’s only that so many are blind and in complete denial. An oppressed person’s freedom from poverty is more important than a privileged person’s freedom to acquire vast and unreasonable amounts of wealth. Especially when only a small portion of society is even able to do that. The rest are too busy trying to survive and pointing fingers at other marginalized groups to notice.
In my utopian society, there would be no propaganda and manipulation of the masses. We need people to be able to think and reason. We need people comfortable in their lives, so they can sit back and think for a godamn minute without worrying about how they’re going to pay rent. We need children fed and able to learn. We need a comprehensive curriculum creating well rounded citizens for the future.
We need society to be taking a more active role in raising our children. Meaning that at-risk kids won’t be so fuken vulnerable. And having this system for ALL children does not single anyone out. And let’s face it, there are ways in which seemingly safe children are not safe. There are many ways in which children are damaged. It is not only marginalized people who harm children. Tho, they are unfortunately seen as the victimizers.
In my society, children are seen. Presently, they are shuffled mindlessly through the system, sent home to God knows what horrors. Parents are free to damage their children in innumerable ways. And often in ways that leave no physical evidence. In my society, gentle parenting is the law. You can’t have children unless you understand the need to place value on their lives as individual human beings. Children are not your possessions to do with as you will. I’ve never understood parents who vehemently defend their right to fuk up their children. It’s for their own good, right? Jesus Christ!
Children are everyone’s collective responsibility in my society. This takes a great deal of pressure off of parents, does it not? To not have to worry about childcare costs? To not have to worry that your child is receiving the very best care outside of their home? To know they are fed well during the day, offsetting grocery costs. To be supported and valued as parents. Where families aren’t left to figure it all out on their own.
Oh and also, children should not be forced to do homework. They can study and learn things extra, if they want. But that will not be rewarded at school. There are no gold stars or happy and sad stickers in the classroom. Every single child is valued as a student.
The whole point of my utopian society, well not the whole point….Is to ease the burdens placed on us by merely existing.
These measures will ultimately create a peaceful coexistence.
Universal and mandatory childcare. Obviously, the very best in care. *What I say is the best. Which is the best. Trust me.😂
A comprehensive education that doesn’t discriminate based on geographic location or socioeconomic status.
Food Insecurity is addressed. No child should ever be hungry, let alone hungry at school where they need to be able to learn.
Universal Healthcare and dental.
Accessible post-secondary education.
Rental homes are provided by the government or an outside agency contracted by the government. Rental prices are capped based on inflation. A sliding scale based on household income. The poorest probably wouldn’t even need to pay rent. Nobody is ever evicted.
The clothing needs of children are provided for. Children should not have to go to school feeling like they are less, because they don’t have nice clothes.
Actually children wear uniforms at school. This makes it so no child is singled out. Everyone is equal. Of course clothing and uniforms are provided.
The wealthy are taxed fairly. The reason social programs don’t exist is because there isn’t enough tax revenue. They’re just going to have to suck it up. They will still be wealthy anyway, so whatever. 🥱
Legalize recreational drug use. Why should only alcohol be legal? It is equally as harmful towards society. Although making everything illegal would just bring in organized crime more than it already is.
Make institutions humane living environments.
A whole restructuring of our justice system beginning with law enforcement. Everyone is entitled to equal representation. The wealthy and the poor will receive the same justice, in other words.
Infertility vaccine. I know, far-fetched. This is my imagined perfect society, so deal with it!
A comprehensive parenting educational program must be taken and passed, prior to having your infertility vaccine reversed. Income, race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, gender identity, obviously are not barriers.
You don’t need to be married or even in a relationship to have children. You are only required to know how raise our vulnerable small people.
There is ongoing parental support which is mandatory. Home visits, supplemental parenting classes, flagged homes are intervened. Given needed supports, education, ect….Child removal if abuse is occurring. Of course the children are placed in therapeutic environments where they can heal. Parents can have supervised visitation and graduate eventually to the return of their children. Then watched very carefully.
Cameras everywhere. It’s not to spy on people. It’s to keep vulnerable and marginalized citizens safe. Well actually, in my society there would be zero marginalized people. The cameras are to keep people accountable and ensure vulnerable people are safe.
Things like phones and computers are provided to everyone.
Children have a tracking device implanted. This is removed after age 18. Parents cannot use this to oppress their children. It is there only to protect them from predators.
For all these fascism type policies, there is an independent watchdog that ensures that power is not misused. It wouldn’t really be anything like fascism.
No guns! Only people who hunt can have guns. Obviously, there are rules too. A safety course must be taken. Must be of sound mind. Firearms must be locked up. Even law enforcement will not have guns just like the UK.
Restorative justice. Prison is for violent crimes and only to protect the vulnerable.
Mental health supports. Therapy is provided. Every child receives counselling. Amount depending on need. Also, I kind of think it should be mandatory. Everyone receives regular mental health assessments. 🤔 This has to be carefully monitored though. Anyone who is flagged as needing support is given extra therapy time.
For my second, “in conclusion,” we just need to have a society based on fairness and Equality. We need to protect vulnerable citizens at all cost. Take an active interest in ALL children. Creating for them an environment that encourages their healthy development. This means that the community has to take a large portion of the parental responsibility.
Incidentally, I’ve never agreed that teachers are paid to teach, and not do anything else. I abhore this attitude that many educators have. They have these kids for a good portion of their day. It can’t only be for educating. That’s what I mean by providing a “comprehensive education.” Education is not only academic in nature. And educators ARE caregivers as well. They need to provide emotional care and comfort. This can be done by making a few small changes in their daily interactions with students. And obviously we need to put more resources in place that support children’s emotional development. How can a deregulated child learn effectively? It’s so obvious, is it not?
Parents should not be free to parent however they want to. Because this attitude usually means those kids are not being protected. There should be guidelines in place, just as there is at daycare and school.
In my utopian society, everyone’s basic human needs are provided for, one way or another. This takes away so much anxiety and stress. People can live happier lives and be less of a menace to society. Miserable people can wreak havoc on the unsuspecting.
All this will be funded by fairly taxing the ultra-wealthy. They need to start giving back. Their privilege is at the detriment of others. It should be required that they pay reparations. Another way to fund this utopia is through The tax revenue of recreational drug sales. There are many other creative ideas to come up with. It is possible to live in this kind of world. It’s just greed that creates a barrier.
If these utopian policies are put into effect, I guarantee drastic improvements in everyone’s quality of life. Most importantly the most vulnerable in society will be protected and safe. People won’t be hungry and struggling financially. Society will be educated and well-rounded. Victimizers will know they are being watched so they will be less apt to hurt their victims and will be apprehended much easier. Drastic crime reduction would occur. Addicts are looked after and kept safe. Everyone who wants or needs help will receive it. Everything, in essence, will be better. Just do as I say and all will be well. 🤓
The End
